  6. Yes another karaoke player but for dos.

  10.              There is only a screen to remind you to register  ...
  11.              If you register, you will receive a post card with
  12.              your personnal registration key as proof of purchase and the
  13.              last revision of KaraDos with new songs if you want it.
  14.              The registration key remove the shareware screen.

  93. INSTALLATION of the KaraDos product:
  94. -----------------------------------
  95. create a directory
  96. >mkdir c:\karados
  97. >cd c:\karados
  98.  unzip all files .
  99. > unzip or pkunzip kardp14
  100. Apart for the .mid .txt .kar examples, all others
  101.   files must be kept in the same directory.
  102. Then type :
  103. > install
  104.  answer to questions, then type
  105. > ultramid  <return>   (GUS user: if you want to use a gus with internal synth.)
  106. > kdir demo <return>
  107.  
  108. select a mode with the <tab> key  (VERY IMPORTANT)
  109. select a song with the up and down arrow keys or mouse
  110. then press enter or left mouse button,
  111.  and ... sing
  112.  
  113.  
  114. For MPU401 or COM user configure by editing the kara.cfk file
  115. and add the line :
  116. #hd=MPU401
  117. (default address is 330h and can be changed with an environmental
  118. variable MPU401=xxx  with xxx the hexadecimal address of the MPU)
  119. (no interruption needed)
  120. or use setup.exe
  121.  
  122. For serial output:
  123. #hd=COMx (with x = 1 or 2 or 3 or 4)
  124. or use setup.exe
  125. Notice that the hanshake is done with RTS/CTS signals. The 38400
  126. bauds is too speed for midi and the external box (portman for example)
  127. has to slow down the stream.
  128.  
  129. For Gravis Ultrasound (standart, Max or ACE)
  130. and Sound Blaster, the detection is automatic with environmental
  131. variables ULTRASND=xxx,y,z,a,b or BLASTER=Axxx Ix Dy Ta
  132. If you have both card installed, you can choose by
  133. #hd=GUS  or
  134. #hd=SB
  135. or use setup.exe
  136.  
  137. Please read carefully the files kdir.man and kara.man .
  138.  
  139. Note for GUS users with ultramid
  140. --------------------------------
  141. ultramid may be activated with
  142. ultramid -16
  143. for using patches in 16 bits.
  144. For speed reasons the use of ram disk is recommended.
  145. Some "heavy" midi files with many program changes may slow down the
  146. song while loaded (mainly with the 16 bits choice). Don't know what to do.
  147. Don't forget to remove ultramid with
  148. ultramid -f
  149.

  151. kdir.exe and kara.exe are written with borland C++
  152.  
  153. Minimal Requirement:
  154. - a 386 or better
  155. - CGA, EGA or VGA 256k  (.bgi drivers)
  156. - a GUS,
  157. - or a SoundBlaster or GUS with an external midi expander on midi port,
  158. - or a MPU401 (uart and complete mode) card,
  159. - or an external MIDI box on serial output with an external expander,
  160. - 1 Mbytes.

  162. The KaraDos product is from  1.1 version a shareware
  163. and only for a private usage.

  165. If you use this product more than 30 days you must send me only 30 dollars
  166. or 150frs with international check for foreign (or a bank note in the letter)
